British Council Unveils Three Filipino Recipients of IELTS Prize 2023

The British Council, the UK’s prominent institution offering educational and cultural opportunities globally, has unveiled the recipients of the esteemed IELTS Prize 2023.

This annual contest extends support to IELTS test-takers by providing up to PHP 350,000 (£5,000) for their university tuition fees in English-speaking universities worldwide, empowering driven young individuals to transform their academic aspirations into tangible realities.

In the latest edition, the British Council received an overwhelming response, with over 1,700 submissions from test-takers spanning China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Amidst stiff competition, three outstanding achievers from the Philippines emerged as this year’s honorees:

  • Ma. Kaela Joselle Madrunio, MA Forensic Linguistics, Aston University, United Kingdom (Grand Prize)
  • Casey Anne Cruz, Masters of Arts Program in Human Rights, Mahidol University, Thailand (Second Prize)
  • Rafi Victoria Sartin, Master of Marketing, Western Sydney University, Australia (Third Prize)

“Securing the IELTS Prize will enable me to dive into the culture of Aston University, a hub for forensic linguistics in Birmingham, UK. I eagerly anticipate making a significant contribution to the network of legal experts, language professionals, and researchers in the Philippines,” expressed Ma. Kaela Joselle Madrunio, the Grand Winner of the IELTS Prize 2023.
