Art Fair Philippines 2024 Transformed by LG TV’s Innovative Display Technology

Art Fair Philippines, renowned as the nation’s premier platform for modern and contemporary Filipino art, once more metamorphosed The Link in Makati City into a bastion of artistic ingenuity. Esteemed for its spotlight on the dynamic creativity of the Philippine visual arts landscape, the 2024 edition of the fair broadened its horizons, embracing a diverse array of local and international galleries. Amidst this realm of artistic brilliance, LG Electronics, lauded at CES® 2024 for its advancements in display technology, assumes a central role through strategic partnerships, affirming its commitment to the arts.

During Art Fair Philippines 2024, held from February 16 to 18, attendees were treated to an immersive fusion of technology and creativity. Art aficionados marveled at artworks by Eugenio Ampudia and Alvin Zafra showcased on LG’s cutting-edge QNED and OLED screens, delivering unmatched visual precision. This collaboration highlighted LG’s pivotal role in harmonizing traditional art with the digital era, ensuring the artists’ envisioned nuances and colors were faithfully reproduced. Notably, both LG QNED and OLED screens were recognized as Best TVs of CES 2024.

LG’s QNED and OLED technologies revolutionized the art viewing experience. The QNED screens, merging Quantum Dot and NanoCell technology, boasted Mini LED backlighting for vivid colors, deep blacks, and striking contrast, augmented by Precision Dimming Pro+ for exceptional clarity. Each miniature LED meticulously integrated into the screen resulted in an explosion of detail and brightness, powered by the α9 Gen5 AI Processor 8K for razor-sharp, lifelike imagery.

Meanwhile, LG OLED evo screens elevated visuals with self-lit pixels, delivering flawless blacks and infinite contrast, ensuring the authenticity of every artwork’s colors. Brightness Booster, combined with the α9 Gen 5 AI processor, heightened luminance by up to 20%, while Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro meticulously adjusted thousands of screen blocks for heightened HDR vibrancy and accuracy. Together, LG’s QNED and OLED screens provided an immersive, intricate, and vibrant viewing experience, breathing unprecedented life into digital art.

Enhancing the digital art encounter, the 7th floor of the fair served as a vibrant platform for showcasing digital, crypto, and new media artworks, exhibited on expansive LG QNED and OLED screens. Lisa Periquet of Art Fair Philippines remarked, “ArtFairPH/Projects will be located on the 7th floor. The layout will immediately feel different from the gallery floors, and will encourage a sense of discovery. For the first time, we will have quite a few foreign artists presenting for Projects.” This initiative not only amplified the visibility of digital artists but also underscored LG’s commitment to nurturing innovative art forms that resonate with tech-savvy and crypto-curious audiences. Furthermore, LG’s innovative screens possess the flexibility to be installed vertically, seamlessly accommodating the unique aspect ratios and orientations often demanded by contemporary digital artworks.

In addition to enhancing visual art displays, LG’s state-of-the-art OLED screens played a pivotal role in the educational and cinematic aspects of the fair. The Talks section, integral to Art Fair Philippines’ mission of broadening art audiences, featured LG OLED screens, enriching presentations and discussions with their unparalleled picture quality. Among the projects showcased on LG screens was one from Data, an online commissioning platform for artists specializing in digital media founded by David Gryn. Another project, Be a Tree Now!, engaged participants in a movement advocating for climate justice, resulting in a poignant multiple-exposure image resembling a tree canopy. Similarly, the “speakeasy” area on the roof deck utilized LG OLED TVs, offering an exceptional viewing experience that complemented the artistic and narrative depth of discussions. Named NO SHOWING and spearheaded by filmmaker Moira Lang, this space served as a relaxed hangout area for guests at the fair.

LG’s participation in Art Fair Philippines 2024 underscored the brand’s belief in the transformative potential of art and technology. “Our collaboration with Art Fair Philippines reflects a shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation,” said Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director of LG PH. “By integrating our cutting-edge display technologies into this esteemed event, we aim to offer unforgettable experiences for art enthusiasts and introduce new dimensions to the viewing and appreciation of art.”

As Art Fair Philippines 2024 celebrated the pinnacle of Philippine modern and contemporary art, LG Electronics assumed a leading role in this artistic journey, bridging the gap between technology and creativity. Visitors to the fair experienced a harmonious blend of artistic ingenuity and technological excellence, marking yet another milestone in the country’s vibrant art scene.
