Araneta City and Kasuso Foundation Join Forces to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

City of Firsts links up with the volunteer-based foundation for month-long activities

Receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer is a deeply distressing experience. Statistics reveal that out of the 86,484 total cancer cases reported in the country each year, a significant 27,163 are attributed to breast cancer. Regrettably, this disease has claimed the lives of 9,926 individuals, making it the third most lethal form of cancer in the nation. This unfortunate distinction places the Philippines at the forefront of breast cancer rates in Asia and ranks it ninth on a global scale. Tragically, diagnoses often occur only in advanced stages, underscoring the critical importance of awareness and early detection.

In a bid to raise awareness about this condition and emphasize the significance of early screening, Araneta City has joined hands with the volunteer-driven Kasuso Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. This collaborative endeavor aims to illuminate the stark realities of breast cancer and ignite a call to action within the community. Below are some of the activities that you can participate in at the City of Firsts:

Experience the healing power of art

Throughout the entire month, Araneta City is set to host the “SUSUportahan Kita” art exhibition, dedicated to bridging the gap in breast cancer care in the Philippines. This unique art exhibition serves as a fundraising initiative, showcasing artworks created by artists who are either breast cancer patients or survivors, as well as those who have drawn inspiration from the stories of their loved ones affected by the disease. The proceeds generated from this event will be directed towards the Kapuso Foundation’s early detection and patient support programs. The “SUSUportahan Kita” benefit art exhibition will be held at the Gateway Mall from October 1 to 9 and at Ali Mall from October 23 to 27.

On October 7, the art exhibition will be officially inaugurated at the Gateway Mall. The mall will transform into a center of empowerment, featuring a range of engaging activities. One of the highlights includes a Breast Health Talk, designed to provide attendees with vital knowledge about breast health. Additionally, Gathered Creative Co. will host a Floristry Workshop for the first 30 registered breast cancer patients, offering them a unique and enriching experience.

Be inspired and entertained

Mark your calendars for October 15 when Farmers Plaza will be the venue for KasusoCon, a one-of-a-kind convergence of creativity and compassion. In collaboration with Araneta City and the Philippine Foundation for Breast Cancer Inc., this charitable art convention is poised to demonstrate the profound impact of art as a means to heighten awareness and generate support.

Simultaneously, the charismatic TV and online host Ogie Diaz, along with his friends, is all set to bring mirth and laughter to the proceedings with Pink Kasuso, an event scheduled for October 15 at Farmers Plaza. Pink Kasuso promises to be a fun and entertaining experience you won’t want to miss!

Learn, earn, and win

Araneta City’s unwavering commitment to the cause extends further. On October 25, Ali Mall will be the venue for Tupperware’s PinkTober event, which will include a lively PinkTober Party and enticing Raffle Promos. The ambiance will be brimming with engaging product demonstrations and inspiring testimonials, showcasing how Tupperware has empowered numerous women to earn through their product offerings.

See the beauty of resilience through photos

Embrace the narratives of resilience and fortitude at the “Kasuso Against All Odds” Photo Exhibit Opening, an event set to captivate hearts and minds on October 25 at Ali Mall. This exhibition pays homage to the indomitable human spirit that prevails against the challenges posed by breast cancer. Through a compelling collection of photographs, it will weave tales of hope, bravery, and unwavering resolve, offering inspiration to all in attendance.

Marjorie Go, AVP for Marketing of Araneta City, emphasized, “By raising awareness, extending support, and participating in meaningful endeavors, we are weaving a vibrant tapestry of hope and unity in the battle against breast cancer. Through art, education, and a profound sense of empathy, we embody the spirit of togetherness and determination to conquer this dreaded affliction.”
