Animal and Pet-Related Reels are a Hit with Filipinos on Facebook and Instagram in 2022

Fashion was the second most engaged Reels topic for Instagram, while comedic skits took second place on Facebook.

Filipinos have been embracing Instagram and Facebook Reels, which allow for the creation and viewing of short-form video content with AR filters, since their introduction in late 2021 and early 2022 respectively.

In 2022, animal and pet-related Reels saw the most engagement among Filipinos on both platforms, indicating a strong interest in content featuring pets and animals.

These Reels ranged from heartwarming rescue stories to cute and funny ones like this corgi being so adorably well-behaved while sporting some beaver-like pustiso.

Fashion and Family & Parenting were also among the top 5 Reels content topics that Filipinos engaged with the most on both Instagram and Facebook.

From Q1 to Q3 of 2022, Andrei King (@king.dreii), a creator and former PBB housemate based in the Philippines, had the most played Instagram Reel among verified PH-based accounts. His Reel featured an “Instagram vs. Reality” comparison of taking pictures on travels and resonated with many Filipinos.

Actress Maricar Reyes-Poon’s (@maricareyespoon) transformation with the Cruella filter took the second spot for most played Reel by a verified Pinoy account. Korean creator Dasuri Choi, fashion blogger Kryz Uy, and When In Manila’s sushi pun Reel also made the top 5.

Vegan recipe developer Jeeca Uy of The Foodie Takes Flight stands out as a notable Reels-related achievement in 2022. Between January 1st and September 30th, Jeeca gained over 117,000 new Instagram followers after they viewed one of her Reels.
