With his familiar surname, Andrew is set on taking a different path from his brother, Derek Ramsay.  Aside from aspiring to portray all sorts of roles, he also pursues his love for film as the Head of Partnerships and co-founder of Cutaway Productions, a film company that produces advertisements, social media content, and full-length features for a broad clientele.

Andrew returned to the Philippines after his theatre and film stints in London and LA. He worked on Living in the Dead of Night, a short film under the creative direction of David Olson. He portrays the dubious character of Tom, a drug dealer who preys on Hunter, a sheltered teenager. Although Tom’s character is different from Andrew’s real-life disposition, it was a role that he took on with much intensity.

Before his acting career, he first earned his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy and has received training for acting in the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and the Philippine Educational Theater Association.

He got encouraged to do acting in the Philippines in hopes to make a name in the film circle which is why he auditioned for a role in Ginhawa, a feature-length film for the 2022 Cinemalaya Film Festival. Andrew will portray the character of Anton Banal, an impoverished local boxer who dreams of making it big in the ring. At the same time, he created his own production company with his friends in 2020 called Cutaway Production, the production company responsible for the creation of Living in the Dead of Night.

The Rabbit Hole of Living in the Dead of Night

“I guess this story is that the world really isn’t what you’ve thought it should be.”

Living in the Dead of Night is a dark coming-of-age story that narrates how surreal blissful innocence may be. It follows the story of Hunter (Andre Miguel), a sheltered teenager finding his place in the sleepless metropolis. Alongside his dubious partner Tom (Andrew Ramsay), Hunter participates in a deal of a lifetime out of a shabby motel room. Hunter experiences it all: fighting, gambling, sex, and an all-time high. Still lost and searching for answers in his psychedelic vacuum, Hunter witnesses the death of his youth. Based on true events.

This neon-noir 40-minute film is a very ambiguous film with a very basic concept of coming-of-age. A trip down a rabbit hole where the lines between reality and imagination are confused for the audiences to determine. An exploration in an unexpected strange sleepless world without knowing if he fits. A different take on one’s coming-of-age.

“I guess the origin of the story came from me reminiscing my own coming-of-age,”

David Olson

David Olson, the director and scriptwriter of Living in the Dead of Night, has worked on many notable projects but this film is his most personal yet. Aside from directing and scriptwriting, he also immersed himself in the cinematography, editing, and sound design of the film.

Living in the Dead of Night of Cutaway Productions is set to participate in the following 20 different international film festivals this year:
