ABS-CBN, UMANI NG PARANGAL BAGO MATAPOS ANG 2020

Bago magpaalam sa 2020, sari-saring parangal ang tinanggap ng ABS-CBN mula sa iba-ibang award giving body noong Disyembre.

Nanguna ang Star Cinema sa 7th Urduja Heritage Film Awards, kung saan hinirang na Best Heritage Film ang “Quezon’s Game,” samantalang may Jury Prize (Romance) naman and “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” Wagi rin ang mga artista ng “Quezon’s Game” na sina Raymond Bagatsing (Best Actor), Rachel Alejandro (Best Supporting Actress), Billy Ray Gallion (Best Supporting Actor), at Audie Gemora (Best Actor in a Cameo Role), habang kinilala ang direktor nilang si Matthew Rosen ng Best Director, Best Cinematography, at Best Production Design. Panalo rin si Dean Rosen ng Best Screenplay para sa nasabing pelikula.

Kinilala rin ang cast ng “Hello, Love, Goodbye” na sina Alden Richards (Best Actor), Maricel Laxa Pangilinan (Best Actress in a Cameo Role), at William Lorenzo (Best Actor in a Cameo Role), ang bida ng “Isa Pa With Feelings” ng Black Sheep na si Carlo Aquino (Best Actor in Comedy or Musical), at sina Fino Herrera at Raven Molina (Best New Performer) para naman sa pagganap nila sa “Mga Batang Poz” ng iWantTFC at Dreamscape Entertainment. Nanalo rin ng Jury Prize (Advocacy) ang “Mga Batang Poz” kasama ang “Metamorphosis” na isa sa mga pelikula sa Cinema One Originals Film Festival.

Hinakot din ng “Fan Girl,” isang proyekto ng Black Sheep, Globe Studios, Project 8, Epicmedia, at Crossword Productions, ang awards sa Metro Manila Film Festival, kabilang ang Best Picture, Best Director at Best Screenplay para kay Antoinette Jadaone, Best Actor para kay Paulo Avelino, at Best Actress para kay Charlie Dizon. Nakuha rin nito ang Best Editing (Benjamin Tolentino), Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), Best Sound (Vincent Villa), at third place sa Best Virtual Float.

Kinilala rin ang ilang Kapamilya artists sa Laguna Excellence Awards 2020 sa pangunguna ni Boy Abunda na tumanggap ng Lifetime Achievement Award for Hosting. Nagwagi rin si Sylvia Sanchez (Outstanding TV Actress of the Year – Pamilya Ko), Paulo Avelino (Outstanding TV Actor of the Year – The General’s Daughter), Erik Santos (Outstanding Male Concert Performer of the Year), Darren Espanto (Outstanding Male Pop Artist of the Year), Maris Racal (Outstanding New Female Recording Artist of the Year), DJ ChaCha (Outstanding Female DJ of the Year) at DJ Onse (Outstanding Male DJ of the Year) ng MOR 101.9.

Sa 2020 FAMAS Awards naman, ginawaran si Angel Locsin ng Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award, habang si Liza Soberano ay tumanggap ng German Moreno Youth Achievement Award, at si Boy Abunda naman ang binigyan ng Dr. Jose Vera Perez Memorial Award. Panalo rin si Marya Ignacio ng Best Editing para sa “Hello, Love, Goodbye” sa 38th Luna Awards.

Kabilang naman sa mga pinarangalan sa 42nd Catholic Mass Media Awards ang Star Music artist na si Jamie Rivera na tumanggap ng Hall of Fame Award sa kategoryang Best Inspirational Song, habang wagi naman bilang Best Secular Song ang “Pinakamamahal Kong Bayan”  na sinulat ng Star Music songwriter at executive na si Jonathan Manalo. Panalo rin ang “Ililigtas Ka Niya” ng Star Music bilang Best Music Video, samantalang kinilala rin ang librong “Give Thanks and Praise” ng ABS-CBN Books na sinulat ni Fr. Tito Caluag sa kategoryang Special Feature.  

Hindi rin nagpahuli ang ABS-CBN News journalists na sina Jeff Canoy, Zhander Cayabyab, at Lyza Aquino noong Disyembre, na tinanghal naman bilang mga Hero Journalist of the Year sa 15th Gawad Filipino.
