Araneta City just held its annual life size Belen lighting last November 17. The now-lit-up Belen, which has become Araneta City’s holiday tradition since 1991, can be seen at Gen. MacArthur Avenue between the Farmers Market and the Farmers Garden this year.
Depicting the nativity of Jesus Christ with Mary, Joseph, and the three kings, The Belen is a classic icon that will surely make you feel that the cozy breeze of the most awaited Christmas Season is already here.
The blessing of the Belen was led by Rev. Father Ronnie Santos, the parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Quezon City whilst the main ceremonial lighting was led by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, along with other officials of Quezon City LGU and Brgy. Socorro, and Araneta City executives and personnel. The blessing was also made solemn by the ensemble performance of the Rizal Technological University Grand Alumni Association Inc. Singers setting the perfect tone for everyone to feel the ceremony better.
The lighting of the Belen is part of the many Christmas events and activities that Araneta City has prepared for the arrival of the Christmas Season. It follows other exciting festivities such as the star-studded lighting of the iconic Giant Christmas tree last November 10 and the very first tree lighting event at the New Gateway Mall 2 last November 14.
The theme for this year, the “City of Firsts, Your Home This Christmas,” promotes and showcases a cozy and welcoming season of love, giving, and sharing.
Traditional Christmas at the City of Firsts includes the Parolan bazaar where you can find quality and affordable Christmas decorations.
The Times Square Park has a cool al fresco dining with an up close view of the Giant Christmas Tree along with this is the spectacular Grand Fireworks Display every Fridays to Sundays at 7 PM and, of course, the Santa Claus and friends meet-and-greet and mascot parade at Araneta City Malls every weekend.
So if you’re thinking of where to spend some quality time, a place to buy your friends and family a nice gift this Christmas, or just somewhere to spend the weekends and do some catching ups with your love ones, then Araneta City is a great addition to your Christmas bucket list!
