Globe Ambassadors BLACKPINK on COP26

During the recent UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. BLACKPINK the world-renowned Korean girl group has a message for all global leaders and people of the world about taking action towards a problem we face today, climate change.

The issue of climate change is a critical predicament that affects everyone in the world. It is notable how popular groups like BLACKPINK is addressing this dilemma and is using their platform to further voice out the immediacy of contributing to solving it.

“Climate change is an established fact. We have learned of the devastating changes to nature, to the global weather, and the air we breathe. And the changes that we feared are already beginning to transform our planet.  We have learned that we must act now. Urgently, to prevent much, much, worse”. BLACKPINK shares in a video message presented at COP26, “We do not want to get there.  The important thing is that we all take responsibility because it just won’t be achieved without collective action.  Let’s work together for our planet and take climate action in your area.”

As an avid advocate of climate action. Globe, as aligned with the 2015 Paris Agreement, became the first and only publicly-listed Philippine company listed by the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi). They are now an official participant in the Race to Zero Movement. A global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, which aims to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2050 and limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Starting off their shift to a greener operations, Globe is running 13 of its facilities under a 100% renewable energy. Meanwhile, it has also deployed 7,400 green network solutions to achieve efficient energy and resource management in its cell sites nationwide.

Globe, with its ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System, is indeed on its way to fully reducing its impact on our environment. GMSA, the largest global consortium of mobile networks, has recently recognized Globe and its green journey.

Globe as an advocate for climate action is a firm partisan of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Besides the future of the young generations are in the hands of those in the present. In a world where we face multiple problems, it is great to know that we have advocates like Globe.
