Next-generation self-custodial digital asset platform Bron has officially rolled out FaceScan, a biometric wallet recovery capability powered by iProov’s Dynamic Liveness™ technology. The new security tool allows users who get locked out of their accounts due to lost devices or misplaced passkeys to instantly regain access with a single facial scan. The system validates the user’s Genuine Presence™, confirming that a real, live individual is executing the scan and verifying them against the original account setup.

Solving the Pain Point of Self-Custody
The feature targets a major vulnerability in the rapidly expanding digital asset space. According to industry research from June 2026, global cryptocurrency ownership has reached an estimated 774 million individuals.
While a growing number of individuals, families, and corporations prefer self-custody—maintaining sole ownership over their assets without traditional third-party intermediaries—managing access remains a significant risk. Unlike traditional banking portals or centralized web accounts, self-custodial setups lack a desk help system or provider that can simply trigger a manual password reset to restore lost funds.
Multi-Layered Recovery Options
FaceScan functions alongside Bron’s pre-existing Guardian recovery framework, which relies on two pre-approved, trusted external contacts nominated by the owner to verify identity.
Users have full autonomy over their security preferences, enabling them to activate either solution independently or use both simultaneously for maximum security redundancy. The FaceScan feature has been deployed globally and is fully compatible across major operating systems and consumer hardware devices.
Andrew Bud, founder and CEO of iProov, said:
“Account recovery has always been the hardest problem in self-custody. Losing your device or credentials shouldn’t mean you lose access to what belongs to you. FaceScan provides an easy way to recover your account that doesn’t rely on a seed phrase or on someone else being available, so users can select the option that suits them best. iProov Dynamic Liveness confirms that the real owner of the account is there, live, in front of the camera, while protecting against attempts by an attacker to impersonate them.”
“The industry has spent years pretending that losing everything is an acceptable price to pay for self-custody. It isn’t,” said Dmitry Tokarev, founder of Bron. “The challenge has always been making recovery possible without reintroducing the very third-party dependency that self-custody is designed to remove. FaceScan changes that equation by confirming that you are the person who set up the account, without Bron needing to know who you are, and without an identity document, seed phrase, or point at which we take custody. You shouldn’t have to choose between control and recoverability.”
