Eleven premier artists from across Asia are set to take the stage this November for a historic musical showdown.

Blending explosive vocal power, lightning-fast rap verses, and traditional Filipino instrumentation, ABS-CBN star CARMELLE is set to champion the Philippines at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026. Her groundbreaking musical showcase will take center stage during the Grand Final in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 14.

Behind the creation of “Sobra-Sobra” are renowned Filipino songwriters Mat Olavides and Nica del Rosario, who have previously written major hits for BINI and Sarah Geronimo. For Olavides and del Rosario, this regional competition serves as an ideal stage to introduce Asian listeners to the rich variety of styles and exceptional performers within the local music scene.

“I hope CARMELLE’s journey can show the rest of the world that world-class Filipino talent comes in all shapes and sizes. We are not limited to one sound nor one kind of performer,” said Nica, who co-wrote BINI’s “Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi” and “Karera” and Sarah Geronimo’s “Tala.”

That creative vision is fully realized in the song “Sobra-Sobra.” The entry balances an uplifting anthem of personal confidence and identity with a dynamic fusion of diverse musical styles.

“May Filipino elements like kulintang and kubing, but we also incorporated Latin influences. I think that combination reflects how Filipino music has always been shaped by different cultures while still developing its own identity,” said Mat, who co-wrote BINI’s “Salamin, Salamin” and co-produced “Pantropiko.”

According to the composers, the song possesses a universal appeal that can resonate with global listeners, proving that a powerful musical message can bridge diverse language gaps.

“It’s about knowing your worth, being confident in who you are, and not letting other people define you. Kahit iba-iba ang language and culture natin, I think those are emotions and experiences that many people can relate to,” Mat explained.

“The energy of the song also makes it fun and easy to connect with, even if you don’t understand every word,” he added.

Nica believes the track delivers a vital message of empowerment, resonating strongly with women throughout the Asian community.

“‘Sobra-Sobra’ is a song that can empower women all over Asia. I believe that all women go through a lot of the same struggles despite race and culture,” she said.

Tying all these creative pieces together is CARMELLE, whose distinct vocal delivery and magnetic stage presence define the true identity of the Philippine entry.

“CARMELLE’s distinct high and powerful belt and her rapid-fire rapping are also performance elements that are very Filipino that we hope the Asian audience can appreciate,” Nica shared.

By topping a field of ten local artists at the Philippine Selection Night on August 30, CARMELLE secured her historic ticket to the premier edition of Eurovision Asia. The Filipina powerhouse will go head-to-head with top-tier musical acts from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Catch CARMELLE represent the Philippines with “Sobra-Sobra” at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 on November 14. The entire Grand Final will stream and broadcast live locally through official partner ABS-CBN.
