The journey to becoming a first—or even second-time marathoner—is never smooth. It is long, demanding, and often unforgiving, shaped by months and years of discipline, quiet battles with self-doubt, and the sheer physical and emotional toll of every step taken toward 42.195 kilometers.

But for 2,568 finishers of the TBR InLife Dream Marathon 2026 held last February 15, 2026, the finish line represented far more than endurance. It stood as proof of what becomes possible when determination is strengthened by community, purpose, and belief.

Now in its third year as title sponsor, Insular Life (InLife) continues to play a vital role in helping Filipinos pursue goals that once seemed out of reach—much like completing a marathon. Its partnership with TBR reflects a deeper commitment to empowering Filipinos toward healthier, more purposeful, and more confident lives, anchored on its “Bahala Not” mindset: facing uncertainty with preparation, discipline, and community support.

As anticipation builds for the launch of the TBR InLife Dream Marathon 2027 this June 6, the stories from 2026 serve as powerful reminders that ordinary individuals can achieve extraordinary milestones when guided by shared purpose and collective strength.

A Community That Runs Together

Throughout the 2026 marathon, InLife’s presence extended beyond sponsorship banners—it was visible in the 125-strong contingent composed of employees, financial advisors, partners, members of the InLife Convo community, and the InLife Sheroes TBR Dream Crew.

Every finisher crossed the line not only with a medal and swag bag, but with renewed confidence, resilience, and a deeper sense of self-belief forged on the road.

Struggle, Solidarity, and the Long Road to Victory

The winding roads of Alabang transformed into a rain-soaked test of endurance—where every kilometer demanded both physical grit and emotional resolve.

For runners like Lui Paulino and Mich Dima, the marathon became an unexpected story of solidarity. Both struggling around the 10K mark due to injury and illness, they chose to continue together. What began as individual battles became a shared journey.

“The weight we separately carried became lighter,” Lui recalled as they walked nearly 30 kilometers side by side to finish within the cutoff. Their final stretch was joined by fellow InLifers—TJ Sevilla, Herschel Mahaguay, and Nisaam London—who had already finished but returned to accompany them to the line.

Rommel Aquitania and Dream Crew member Josel Castro also endured their own defining moments around the 30K mark, where exhaustion peaked and the rain intensified.

“My soaked running gear added to the struggle. The last five kilometers almost broke me—but faith carried me through each step,” Rommel shared.

Josel echoed the same resilience: from shoe changes at 19K, stomach pain at 29K, to near-zero visibility at 32K, every obstacle became a test of trust in training and determination. “Crossing the finish line was choosing grit over excuses, faith over fear, and progress over comfort.”

Breaking Through the Physical Wall

For Herschel Mahaguay, completing her second marathon came with an unexpected challenge—her monthly period with 8 kilometers remaining. Still, she pushed forward, finishing stronger than her first attempt.

For Nisaam Ibbar London, the race marked a personal transformation from an unhealthy lifestyle to a breakthrough moment at 32K, where the “voice of quitting” was finally silenced by the sound of the finish line declaration: “You are a marathoner.”

Meanwhile, Eduard and Vanessa Pineda turned the race into a celebration of love and endurance, completing the 42K together during their 26th anniversary. Despite knee pain in the final stretch, they crossed the finish line united, rain and all.

The Rare Achievement: The 1% Club

Finishing a marathon places runners in an exclusive global group—fewer than 1% of the world’s population has completed 42.195 kilometers.

As participants of the TBR InLife Dream Marathon 2026 discovered, no one crosses the finish line alone.

“Support makes all the difference—it carries you through the hardest miles,” shared Dream Crew member Luigi Galvez, while Bea Villegas emphasized how shared struggle made the journey meaningful: “Having a coach and a crew turned hardship into something bearable—and even joyful.”

More Than a Finish Line

As preparations begin for TBR InLife Dream Marathon 2027, applications opening this June 2026, aspiring runners are set to embark on another season of transformation, discipline, and community building.

“InLife provides a safety net that allows Filipinos to dream bigger and endure life’s toughest distances,” said InLife Chief Marketing Officer Gae L. Martinez. “A marathon, like life, is a test of endurance where the unexpected happens—but what matters is finishing strong.”

Because for every runner who crosses the line, the marathon does not end—it simply begins a new chapter of stronger dreams ahead.
