Everything is set for the “Big Switch!”
AirAsia Philippines and Malaysia AirAsia are taking a major step forward as they transfer all international flight operations from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 starting March 29, 2026—just in time for the expected surge in Holy Week travel.

The move is part of New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC)’s broader initiative to optimize terminal usage, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall passenger experience across NAIA.
What travelers need to know
Beginning March 29, all AirAsia Philippines international flights—including check-in, boarding, and baggage claim—will be handled at Terminal 1. Passengers should proceed directly to the airline’s designated counters at the Terminal 1 Departure area.
According to AirAsia Philippines CEO and President Suresh Bangah, the transition is designed to make travel more convenient, especially for those with connecting flights. With international operations at Terminal 1 and domestic flights remaining at Terminal 2, passengers can expect shorter transfer distances and smoother connections—particularly beneficial during the busy Holy Week period.

Key transition guidelines
To avoid confusion, travelers are advised to note the following:
- International flights before March 29, 2026 will continue to depart from Terminal 3
- International flights on or after March 29, 2026 will depart from Terminal 1
- All international arrivals from March 29 onward will also land at Terminal 1
- Domestic flights will remain at Terminal 2, with no changes
Seamless transfers and added support
To assist passengers during the transition, NNIC will provide a 24/7 free inter-terminal shuttle service connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Shuttles run every 15 to 30 minutes, with passengers required to present a valid boarding pass or itinerary.
A special shuttle service for misrouted passengers will also be deployed starting 9:00 PM on March 28, 2026, operating every 15 minutes between:
- Terminal 3 (Departure Area, Bays 7 & 8)
- Terminal 1 (Bays A12 & A14)
Ready for the travel surge
The terminal reassignment applies only to international passengers traveling from March 29 onward. Affected guests have been notified via email and SMS and are encouraged to double-check their flight details and terminal assignments.
To ensure a smooth transition, AirAsia Philippines has ramped up manpower and introduced 24/7 check-in counters, reinforcing its commitment to seamless, round-the-clock service.
Passengers are advised to arrive early and review travel details carefully to avoid delays.
As the airline gears up for the “Big Switch,” AirAsia Philippines continues to work closely with airport authorities to deliver a more efficient, convenient, and guest-focused travel experience.
