Manila, Philippines – April 2026 — Lazada Philippines reported a significant shift in Filipino consumer behavior in its Q1 2026 insights, highlighting a growing preference for intentional, value-driven shopping. As economic mindfulness and digital convenience continue to shape purchasing decisions, Filipinos are becoming more strategic—balancing quality, savings, and efficiency across their online shopping experiences.

Rise of Intentional and Quality-Focused Shopping

A key trend emerging this quarter is the increasing demand for trusted brands and authentic products. Through LazMall, consumers showed a strong inclination toward official brand stores, prioritizing reliability and product authenticity. This behavior was particularly evident during Lazada’s Birthday Sale, where LazMall achieved up to four times the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) compared to regular periods.

Global brands also fueled growth, with sportswear labels such as Adidas, Puma, and Anta recording significant sales uplifts during campaign periods. This signals a growing appetite among Filipino consumers for high-quality international offerings alongside local favorites, especially in categories like fashion, beauty, electronics, and sportswear.

Everyday Essentials Drive Consistent Demand

While aspirational purchases remain strong, everyday essentials continue to dominate shopping baskets. LazMart emerged as a key growth driver, reflecting how Filipino households are increasingly turning to eCommerce for groceries and daily needs.

The Birthday Sale highlighted this trend, with LazMart achieving up to three times GMV growth and a fourfold increase in voucher usage. Consumers gravitated toward bundled items and value packs from well-known brands like Bear Brand, Birch Tree, and SPAM®, demonstrating a rise in “smart basket building”—a strategy where shoppers plan purchases to maximize savings and convenience.

AI-Powered Features Enhance Shopping Efficiency

Technology is also playing a crucial role in reshaping consumer behavior. Lazada’s AI-powered tools, including its in-app assistant, enabled users to discover deals, compare products, and make faster purchasing decisions.

During the Birthday Sale alone, AI-driven features contributed nearly US$3 million in GMV regionally, with increased engagement from users seeking personalized recommendations and real-time assistance. This reflects a growing openness among Filipino consumers to adopt tech-enabled solutions that simplify and improve their shopping journey.

A New Generation of Filipino Shoppers

Overall, Lazada’s Q1 performance points to the emergence of a more intentional Filipino shopper—one who is value-conscious, digitally savvy, and confident in navigating both premium and essential purchases online.

This evolving mindset not only benefits consumers but also creates opportunities for brands and sellers. With thousands of new product arrivals and a robust ecosystem of campaigns, logistics, and digital tools, Lazada continues to support both local and global partners in reaching a growing market of strategic buyers.

As Lazada Philippines moves forward, the company remains focused on enhancing customer experience through innovation, authenticity, and convenience—ensuring it stays aligned with the changing needs of Filipino consumers in an increasingly digital retail landscape.
