Melita Teo, Chief Executive Officer of AIA Philippines—formerly Philam Life and the local arm of multinational insurer AIA Group—has been named Executive Champion of the Year at the 10th Asia Trusted Life Agents & Advisers Awards in Singapore. The prestigious award honors leaders who go above and beyond in empowering insurance advisers to thrive in today’s evolving distribution landscape while driving industry growth, innovation, and purpose.

“This recognition is not mine alone—it reflects the dedication, resilience, and passion of One AIA,” said Teo. “Across our business, every team member plays a vital role in earning the trust of Filipino families. Every success we achieve at AIA comes from their heart, commitment, and the lasting relationships they build in the communities they serve—all while living our Purpose to help more people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.”

Since taking the helm in 2024, Teo has redefined AIA Philippines’ distribution strategy, ensuring sustained growth, positioning BPI AIA at the forefront of bancassurance, and strengthening the brand’s connection with Filipino customers.

Her leadership has been equally transformative in the digital space. Under her guidance, the company rolled out upgraded sales and recruitment platforms, AI-driven training tools, and affordable digital products such as BPI AIA PamilyaProtect and InstaProtect—streamlining workflows and equipping Life Planners and Bank Sales Executives with tools to boost productivity and reach more Filipinos.

Beyond driving business performance, Teo has consistently championed initiatives with lasting social impact. The AIA Healthiest Schools program, launched in 2024, has already reached more than 7,200 students and educators across five regions. The company also reinforced its environmental commitments through AIA Net Zero while fostering a strong workplace culture, earning certifications as a Great Place to Work® and Best Place to Work, and sweeping multiple honors at the 2025 HR Asia Awards, including Best Companies to Work for in Asia, DEI, Sustainable Workplace, and Tech Empowerment.

AIA Philippines has also received recognition at the 2025 Insurance Asia Awards for digital innovation, customer-focused solutions, and employee engagement, further underscoring Teo’s vision of a purpose-driven, people-centered organization.

Looking ahead, Teo remains focused on strengthening AIA Philippines with cutting-edge tools, robust training, and wellness-driven programs.

“We will keep investing in technology, training and development, and wellness initiatives so our Life Planners can thrive. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of more Filipinos and the people who matter to them most,” she said.

Now in its 10th year, the Asia Trusted Life Agents & Advisers Awards continues to honor individuals and organizations that inspire excellence and purpose in the insurance industry. Teo’s recognition reaffirms AIA Philippines’ commitment to empowering its agency force and helping Filipinos live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.
