Epson, a global leader in technology and sustainability innovation, has released its FY2024 Southeast Asia (SEA) Sustainability Report, showcasing significant strides in advancing circular economy practices, reducing emissions, and expanding community programs across the region. This progress aligns with Epson’s global Environmental Vision 2050, which commits to achieving carbon negativity and eliminating dependence on underground resources.

Advancing a Circular Economy
Epson SEA intensified its circular economy efforts in FY24 by reducing waste and cutting logistics-related emissions. The expansion of drop-shipping operations alone helped avoid 113 tons of CO₂e, a 21% increase compared to FY23. Regionally, Epson recycled more than 1,600 kg of ink consumables and transformed over 500 kg of food waste into fertilizer—the equivalent of about 1,700 meals.
Within its offices, Epson also achieved new milestones in sustainable building practices. One SEA office earned BCA Green Mark Gold certification during FY24, bringing the total to six offices now recognized for energy efficiency and reduced carbon footprints.
Cutting Emissions Through Transparency and Efficiency
In FY23, Epson began collecting regional emissions data, setting a foundation for measurable progress. By FY24, electricity usage was reduced by 11%, bringing Scope 2 emissions down to 814 tons of CO₂e—roughly the annual energy consumption of 4,500 refrigerators. Epson also expanded its Scope 3 emissions tracking, giving markets deeper visibility to make more informed, targeted sustainability decisions.
Embedding Governance and Empowering People
Epson SEA continues to integrate sustainability into its operations by strengthening governance and investing in employee well-being. In FY24:
- 100% of employees participated in compliance training.
- Robust anti-corruption, health, and safety measures were implemented.
- The region recorded zero workplace-related incidents.
These achievements reflect Epson’s commitment to operational excellence while fostering a safe, values-driven workplace.
Enhancing Communities Through Education and Innovation
Beyond operations, Epson remains dedicated to improving quality of life in the communities where it operates. Through the “Epson Goes to School” program, the company donated printers and supported teachers and students in accessing essential learning materials. Epson also backed robotics programs across Southeast Asia, empowering the next generation of innovators with the tools to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Restoring Ecosystems and Building a Sustainable Future
Epson’s FY24 social responsibility efforts included clean-up activities across six SEA markets, which recovered over 1,400 kg of waste. In Indonesia, Epson partnered with WWF’s Trees for Life project, planting 200,000 trees across 300 hectares. This initiative not only contributes to long-term ecosystem restoration but also directly benefits 300 families through livelihood support.
A Commitment Rooted in Collaboration
“At Epson, sustainability is about empowering employees and communities to drive positive change and create a better future,” said Tan May Lin, Sustainability Task Force Leader, Epson Southeast Asia. “By aligning our global vision with regional priorities, and through strong collaboration with partners, we are strengthening transparency, accountability, and impact across Southeast Asia.”
Alvin Tan, Lead for Country Initiatives, Epson Southeast Asia, added: “Sustainability progress must be lived out across our markets. From reducing emissions and waste to expanding education access, our hands-on approach ensures that commitments translate into tangible benefits for both people and the planet.”
