QBE demonstrated its deep commitment to education and community development by actively participating in Brigada Eskwela 2025, the Department of Education’s annual school readiness campaign. This year, more than 500 QBE employee volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help prepare three public schools in Cebu and Metro Manila for the new academic year.

In Cebu, QBE strengthened its ongoing partnership with Bagong Lipunan Elementary School and Zapatera Elementary School, continuing a multi-year relationship that has delivered tangible benefits to the school communities. This year also marked an exciting expansion of QBE’s efforts with the inclusion of Soldiers Hills Elementary School in Muntinlupa City, marking the company’s first Brigada Eskwela participation in Metro Manila.

The initiative was spearheaded by Team Verde, QBE Philippines’ employee-led sustainability network, and organized in collaboration with the QBE Foundation in the Philippines. Volunteers enthusiastically engaged in a variety of tasks, including cleaning classrooms, painting walls and chairs, covering textbooks, and revitalizing school gardens.

Senior leaders joined volunteers on the ground, reflecting QBE’s strong culture of hands-on leadership and grassroots involvement across the organization.

In total, 295 volunteers took part in the Cebu efforts, while 220 employees participated in Manila’s activities. QBE’s long-standing relationship with its Cebu partner schools has gone beyond Brigada Eskwela, encompassing initiatives such as facility upgrades, learning material support, and a school-day nutrition program aimed at improving student wellness and academic readiness.

This year’s outreach was also made possible through a continued partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), a trusted collaborator in QBE’s social responsibility programs.

QBE’s engagement with Brigada Eskwela is part of its broader sustainability strategy, integrating social impact, environmental responsibility, and employee well-being across its operations. As a global insurance leader headquartered in Sydney, QBE’s Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in the Philippines plays a key role in supporting its worldwide network while delivering value locally through community-focused programs under the QBE Foundation.
