Continuing its mission to build healthier communities through innovation, HUAWEI partnered with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) for the revival of one of Asia’s longest and most prestigious cycling races—The Great Revival: Tour of Luzon. Held from April 23 to May 1, the 8-day, 1,074.9-kilometer race kicked off in Paoay and concluded at Camp John Hay in Baguio City.
At the heart of this historic comeback was the MPT DriveHub Cycling Team, who emerged as the overall team champion. Their triumph not only earned them the Perpetual Trophy and a ₱1 million cash prize, but also highlighted their grit, unity, and smart performance.
“We’re very happy. Everyone on the team gave their all. It was a full team effort,” shared Mervin Corpuz, who was also named the race’s Sprint King.
A Race Fueled by Performance, Passion, and Precision
The Tour of Luzon wasn’t just a race—it was a celebration of athletic excellence, wellness, and Filipino culture. Featuring 17 teams (13 local, 4 international) and passing through 7 provinces, the event tested both endurance and teamwork.
Among the standout cyclists:
- Dae Yeong Joo of Gapyeong Cycling Team was crowned Individual Champion.
- Joshua Pascual (Excellent Noodles Cycling Team) conquered the mountain stage and earned the title Eagle of the Mountain.
- James Escumbien (Go for Gold) was named Best Young Rider.
- Muhammad Zahin Wahihi (Malaysia Pro Cycling) took home the Most Combative Rider title.
Smartwatch Innovation on the Saddle
A key advantage for the MPT DriveHub team was their partnership with HUAWEI, particularly the use of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series. Known for its robust health and performance tracking features, the smartwatch supported cyclists with:

“The WATCH GT 5 helped us pace and focus. Its navigation features really supported our performance,” said Corpuz.
