MANILA, Philippines, April 25, 2025 – In a country where only one in four adults is considered financially literate, TELUS Digital Philippines is taking bold steps to help change the narrative—starting from within. As part of its mission to empower its workforce, the company recently hosted “Pera Paraan,” a financial wellness initiative launched in celebration of National Financial Literacy Month. The program featured expert-led discussions and practical tools to equip employees with smarter financial habits and deeper confidence in their financial decisions.

The initiative is part of a broader, long-term commitment by TELUS Digital Philippines to nurture not only professional excellence but also personal financial resilience. The company believes that when employees are empowered financially, they become more productive, focused, and engaged—creating a positive ripple effect across the entire organization.

A Culture Rooted in Financial Empowerment

According to a recent internal survey conducted by TELUS Digital Philippines, 63% of over 1,200 team members reported feeling confident in their financial decision-making—35.7% moderately so, and 27.3% with strong confidence. While this represents a promising baseline, the data also showed that Gen Z employees could benefit from additional support: 20.5% indicated a need for further financial education and guidance.

Financial resilience starts with small, consistent steps, and at TELUS Digital Philippines, we’re here to guide our team members through those first steps and beyond,” said Ria Lopez, Director for Financial Planning and Analysis. “From tools like our SAFE (Savings Arrangement for Financial Empowerment) program to Early Wage Access (EWA) and professional financial counseling, we’re building confidence from the ground up.”

Nearly half of the respondents (49.8%) admitted to feeling financial stress occasionally, underscoring the need for continued and tailored financial wellness efforts.

Experts Leading the Way

The “Pera Paraan” event featured insights from financial wellness advocates Charm De Leon, founder of Ready2AdultPH, and Ginelle Sequitin, financial advisor and educator. Both emphasized practical, real-life financial strategies.

“It’s not just about budgets or spreadsheets,” said Sequitin. “It’s about making your money work for the life you want and using tools and habits that fit your lifestyle.”

De Leon zeroed in on debt literacy, especially for younger professionals. “Understanding good vs. bad debt, credit management, and how interest works can reshape someone’s entire financial future,” she noted.

Benefits That Go Beyond the Basics

TELUS Digital Philippines goes beyond standard financial seminars by providing tangible programs that align with employees’ needs. These include:

  • SAFE (Savings Arrangement for Financial Empowerment): A comprehensive plan that blends savings, investment, and employer-matched contributions for long-term financial growth.
  • HMO coverage with dependent benefits
  • Early Wage Access (EWA)
  • Discounted pharmacy access
  • Educational assistance
  • Debt management counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

“We believe financial wellness is just as vital as physical or mental health,” shared Michelle Trinidad, Human Resources Director. “Our programs are not just perks—they’re strategic investments in our people’s holistic well-being.”
