The song tackles a kind of love that borders on blind innocence
Filipino girl group KAIA is back with another irresistible track, this time teaming up with hitmaker Zack Tabudlo for their latest single, “TANGA”, out now under Sony Music Entertainment.
The upbeat pop-R&B track fuses ‘90s nostalgia with a playful groove and heartfelt lyrics—thanks to Zack’s signature sound and masterful production. Known for crafting chart-topping hits, Zack also composed the song, giving KAIA the chance to explore new musical territory.
Collaborating with Zack was a dream come true for the five-member girl group.
“It felt surreal. We’ve been fans of Zack’s music since our trainee days,” KAIA shared. “We used to sing his songs even before our debut, and now we’re here—working with him on ‘TANGA’. We’ve been keeping this track under wraps since last year, and we’re beyond excited to finally share it.”
“TANGA” explores the bittersweet feeling of ignoring red flags in love just to hold on, something many people can relate to. Blending humor with introspection, the song offers comfort to anyone who’s ever felt “tanga” for love.
“When we first heard the song, we instantly connected with it,” KAIA added. “It’s a reminder that it’s okay to feel naive in love—what matters is that you learn and grow from it. The light, catchy vibe paired with meaningful lyrics makes it something really special.”
Beyond songwriting and production, Zack played a hands-on role throughout the creative process—inviting KAIA into his home studio, where the magic happened. The group recalls how collaborative and inspiring the recording experience was.
“Zack made everything feel so natural. He encouraged us to explore our own ad-libs, experiment with melodies, and embrace new vocal styles. We learned a lot just by watching him work,” they said.
“TANGA” also signals a new direction for KAIA as they gear up for their much-anticipated EP, which promises “fresh sounds and music that’s authentically us.”
