Sponge Cola’s “Tatlong Buwan”: A K-Drama ‘Queen of Tears’ Inspired Anthem

Filipino band Sponge Cola delivers another pop-rock anthem inspired by a popular Korean drama. The official music video premiered last April 26 at 7 p.m. on Sponge Cola’s official YouTube channel, promising to enchant fans with its cinematic portrayal of love’s enduring journey. They have even shot the music video on locations of Queen of Tears! See many you can identify and comment down below.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Yael Yuzon describes the song as “a love letter, epistolary, or even a midnight soliloquy for one person.” He draws inspiration from the love story of the main characters of ‘Queen of Tears,’ exploring their complexities shaped by sociological factors, family ties, and trauma.

Written immediately after watching the tenth episode of the Netflix hit, Yael infuses the song with newfound vulnerability and urgency, expressing sentiments he had never articulated before. Despite its melancholic theme, legendary music producer Angee Rozul advises Yael to sing in a contrasting manner, adding depth to the emotional layers of the song.

Following approval from bandmates and collaboration with mixer Joey Santos, the result is a beautifully crafted ode to a resilient love. The accompanying music video, set against key locations from ‘Queen of Tears,’ adds a magical touch to the overall experience, paying homage to one of the most acclaimed K-dramas.

“Tatlong Buwan” by Sponge Cola is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
